Hotspurs U4 – U16 Summer Recreational Programs – Let the Kids Play

The Nepean Hotspurs recreational training program is part of our Let the Kids Play (LKP) Program. The clubs LKP program focuses on developing our players using the Long-Term Player Development model adopted from the Canada Soccer Association aimed to develop the complete athlete.

For 2021 we are planning an eleven-week session to start on May 31 and end on August 14, 2021. The length of the season may be adjust based on any changes to the Provincial or City Public Health Covid – 19 guidelines. If we do have to make changes to the length of the season we will make what necessary adjustments are needed to the fee structure.

All sessions will be held on at the Charmaine Hooper East and Hooper Mini Fields. (link map) Some sessions may be held at an alternate field, if needed.

All sessions are delivered by coaches who have been provided with an age-appropriate curriculum, session plans and coaching direction under the guidance of our Club Head Coach. Through our weekly curriculum, players will maximize their time on the ball in a fun and safe learning environment.

All participants receive a uniform (jersey, shorts, and socks) and a soccer ball and must wear shin pads and appropriate foot gear.

Start Times: Sessions will run from 6:00 – 6:55pm or 7:15pm – 8:10pm. All U4 & U5 sessions during the week will begin at 6:00pm and weekend sessions will begin at 9am.

Under 4 and 5 = Mixed Boys and Girls (see the table below for age groupings and times)

This program offers a once a week registration option only.

The Mixed boys and girls U4 and U5 groups have one 45-minute session per week. All other age groups have 55-minute sessions with the option of either 1 or 2 sessions per week.

Under 6 to 12 Boys and Under 6 to 12 Girls (see the table below for age groupings and times)

This program offers a once a week or twice a week registration option.

The twice a week option includes a practice and a game session each week. Practices are based on game-oriented activities that teach the basics of soccer and emphasize healthy activities. Game sessions include a short warm up followed by a small sided game within or between groups with optimal ball touch and play

The once-a-week option is a condensed version of the twice a week option which combines both game related activities and a small sided game.

Coaching. Parents who are interested in coaching will be trained and supported by the Club and must complete the Club’s volunteer screening process.

Hotspurs Top Dawg Advanced Training

This program is for players in the Hotspurs Let the Kids play program and they are invited to register in the Club’s Top Dawg development program. This is a 7-week programs that will start May 31 for players U6 – U8, U9 – U12, who are interested in more training with one of our competitive coaches. These sessions will focus primarily on ball mastery and improving their touch on the ball. These sessions will be 1 hour in length and will be held on Saturdays starting at 11:15 am at the Colonnade Mini Fields. At the end of the 7 weeks we will be making another 7-week program available for those interested in carrying on.

Hotspurs U8 Advanced Training Program

The Advanced training program will introduce U8 players interested in learning more about the clubs’ competitive program. The players will be training in a more competitive environment with one of the Clubs competitive coaches. This will be a 7-week program. The purpose of the program is to give the players and parents an understanding of the next steps involved in the move to the competitive stream. To add a game component to this program we will look to set up exhibition games with other clubs around the city who also have an advanced U8 program. This program will be held on Saturday afternoons 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at the Colonnade Mini Fields.

The Hotspurs Soccer Club will be following and enforcing all guidelines of the Government & City Health Officials as well as the clubs Soccer Sanctioning Associations (Ontario Soccer and Canada Soccer).
