Youth Recreational Soccer – U13 to U18

Nepean Hotspurs Recreational teams, along with teams from Ottawa City and the Ottawa Internationals, will again be participating in Recreational Soccer as administered by the Gloucester Dragons in 2018.

The Gloucester Dragon’s mission statement for Recreational soccer aligns with those of the Nepean Hotspurs Soccer Club, namely to “To promote the game of soccer while providing all participants with an equal opportunity to play and to develop in an atmosphere of fun, good sportsmanship and respect.”

The season operates from the end of May through to the end of August and concludes with a soccer festival weekend.

Hotspurs Recreational teams normally have one game and one practice a week.

Game nights for all age categories are determined by the Gloucester Dragons organization. At this time we expect the following game nights for 2018: Boys U14 Tuesdays, Boys U16 Mondays, Boys U18 Thursdays, Girls U14 Wednesdays, Girls U16 Tuesdays and Girls U18 Wednesdays. The Nepean Hotspurs will attempt to schedule practice nights for its teams on opposite nights from game nights. For example if your game night is Wednesday your practice will generally be on a Monday.

The rules and regulations, of the Gloucester Dragons league are primarily FIFA based except as modified by the League. Details concerning rules and regulations can be found at Games are played on a full field, 11v11. Hotspurs teams will play scheduled home and away games against other Club teams that have applied to participate in the Gloucester Dragons house league as noted above.

Recreational soccer provides the opportunity for equal playing time and to play and learn the game in a supportive TEAM environment. Coaches will work to help players achieve individual skill improvements with the ball as well as encourage players to learn a basic life skill in working and supporting each other in a team environment.
