Nepean Hotspurs Soccer Club – Hotspurs Hearts Claim Polar Bear Championship

The Nepean Hotspurs Soccer Club (NHSC) is pleased to announce that the Nepean Hotspurs Hearts emerged as the 2014/2015 Polar Bear League South Women’s Division 2 champions on February 25, 2015. This marks the Hearts second “double” with outdoor and indoor titles in 2011/12 and 2014/15.

Playing without subs, the Hearts recorded a decisive 5-0 victory over GPF, to win the championship. Keeper Sabrina Sousa recorded the clean sheet, with Sam Hetherington scoring a hat trick, and singles from Shannon Holder and Tash Fontaine.

The Hearts finished the regular season in first place with an 11-1-2 record, with the second high goals scored, fewest goals allowed, and best goal differential. Hearts keepers recorded a league leading 5 shut outs, and Sam Hetherington was the leading scorer with 21 goals.

The 2014/2014 PBL Hearts are: Sabrina Sousa, Mel Barry, Emma Lis, Ashton Studer, Meriem Latrous, Tash Fontaine, Shannon Holder, Katelyn Badham, Andrea Palmieri, Liz Palmieri, Lindsay Lepage and Sam Hetherington.

Congratulations to my Nepean Hotspurs Soccer Club Hearts on their Divisional Championship last night. This extraordinary group of young women have won three outdoor and two indoor divisional titles since 2011, including the double in both 2011/12 and 2014/15. It’s been a priviledge to be their coach.
